If you’re getting implants, Dr. Scolnick may need to perform a sinus lift or a sinus graft. Tooth loss can lead to a weakening of the bones near the sinuses and an expansion of the sinuses. The diminished bones and expanded sinus makes it impossible to safely secure an implant without a sinus lift. During this careful and common procedure, the sinus is gently lifted up and grafting material is added to the bone so an implant can be added to the mouth.
